The difference between Thai and Western movies.
I just want to say I like both Thai & Western movies, for different reasons.
First I'll start with Western movies. They often involve small resistance groups fighting back against an overwhelming force, whether it be a corrupt government, alien invasion, killer robots and winning.
Westerners like to be inspired by good guys fighting against the odds and winning. The Terminator, Star Wars, cowboy movies, Lord Of the Rings are examples of this.
Western movies are good at giving a sense of adventure, whether it's a fantasy movie or in space.
On the other hand, Thai movies are often romcoms, movies about poor or struggling middle class people getting lucky, or Muai Thai or gangster related movies
Thai movies can be good when I want to watch something lighthearted and laugh.
In my opinion, Thai and Asian rom coms are better than western, but western action movies are better.
Westerners are better are making Sci Fi movies than Asians (IMO), but Asians can take a simple story and still make it fun, because Asians have something quirky about them. Even cheap Hong Kong martial arts action movies can be very entertaining, but Westerners aren't as good at making middle of the road movies.
I nearly forgot, Asians are better at making horror movies. I find Asian horror movies a lot more scary than Western ones.
The Thai version of Shutter is a lot more scary than the Western version. The Japanese version of the Ring 1 and 2 are much more scary than the Western.
