The pleasant surprise that is Uttaradit in Northern Thailand

Uttaradit is a place that many people whom are not Thai probably have never heard of it. Even for tourists who visit Thailand, at first glance by reading about it online, you'd probably think it's just another rural province full of old people and farmers living s simpler life.

However, I'll say people in Uttaradit know how to party when it's Songkran, you'll see lots of young and pretty ladies wearing only their panties and bra dancing outside while the party music is playing everywhere.

Even in Uttaradit I saw lots of farang (not old geezers) but whom look like they're in their 30s with their face powerded up and wearing Songkran themed shirts and participating in the water fights.

The Lotus in Uttaradit has much better food selection than the one in Lom Sak.

As for tourism tradeoffs, Phetchabun (province where Lom Sak is) has bigger and more beautiful mountains, and both Phetchabun and Uttaradit have national parks and waterfalls.

But I much prefer the food scene in Uttaradit. I'll show all of this in my Uttaradit videos I'll post here, but the food court in Lotus Uttaradit has red pork and rice, sushi, ice cream, along with the usuals such as kaw mon gai, pad ka pow gai etc. it also has an MK.

The Lotus in Lom Sak doesn't have an MK, but the Big C does, but the Big C in Lom Sak has no food court.

On top of this, the food court in Lotus Uttaradit doesn't require you exchange cash for coupons!

I've met women from Uttaradit, and they are fun to talk with, very understanding and playful and naughty but easy to talk with about problems too.

Coincidentally, my Thai grandfather grew up in Uttaradit, but he is originally from Nan. Uttaradit is next to some of the Lanna provinces, which is why Thai people say many people in Uttaradit look Chinese. I had a DNA test done and it was discovered I'm 17% Chinese.

Why do I often go to Uttaradit? It's because my wife's aunt lives there and has a Durian farm.

But Uttaradit has beautiful stretches of mountains and trees along the roads and I loved seeing isolated towns or even isolated homes surrounded by mountain and forest. Such a peaceful and simple way of living, and it makes me want to do away from my material possessions and live that way when I'm old.

I can't post videos, but I can give the links to the videos and I'll show photos.

Here's a video of our trip to Uttaradit last year in which I visited wifes family, ate at and bought food at Lotus (can see the food court), and did a bit of shopping, and you can see the hotel I stayed at, plus the pool, American breakfast I ate. And you can see my wife doing tamboon at the temple

Here are videos in Uttaradit during Songkran last year and 2023. As you can see, wild and crazy fun.
